Vito
Mussomeli practices commercial and retail law with emphasis on creditors�
rights and collections and bankruptcy.
Prior to joining Martin & Seibert, he served in a
number of capacities, including Assistant Prosecutor in Berkeley County,
West Virginia; Appellate Counsel for the Public Defenders in the Eastern
Panhandle of West Virginia; litigator in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
office of the Law Offices of Peter G. Angelos; and solo practitioner in
a general law practice in Morgantown, West Virginia.
He has appeared in cases involving criminal and civil
matters as diverse as property, felony and misdemeanor charges,
professional ethics, employment, contract, family law, commercial law,
and toxic tort.
Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Mussomeli held
administrative and operational managerial positions with Bell
Laboratories in the old AT&T system, as well as in publishing with
Rodale Press in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, and Springhouse Publishing, a
nursing medical publisher in Springhouse, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Mussomeli is a veteran of the United States Army,
having served as a Counterintelligence officer in Vietnam. After
returning to the United States in 1969, he taught at the Intelligence
School at Ft. Holabird, Maryland, before leaving the Army to pursue a
business career.
Mr. Mussomeli has published on numerous topics,
including the probable cause hearing in WV Mental Hygiene law in The
West Virginia Lawyer and a general discourse calling for reform of
legal training for lawyers in The Pennsylvania Lawyer. He was
appointed by the Chief Justice of the West Virginia Supreme Court to
serve on the West Virginia Commission on Mental Hygiene Reform in 1999.
In 1998 he taught courses in General Law and Evidence in the paralegal
program at Shepherd College, Shepherdstown, WV.
He is admitted to the United States District Courts
for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia and the United
States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
